The Festool DOMINO D 10x50/510 BU is a professional pack of 510 precision-manufactured beech DOMINO dowels for producing exceptionally strong and accurately aligned joints in solid wood and panel materials. The substantial 10 x 50 mm format provides a large bearing and gluing area, making it particularly suitable for robust furniture, cabinetry, frames and other interior joinery where high joint strength is required. Unlike conventional round dowels, the elongated DOMINO profile is inherently resistant to rotation, immediately stabilising the components being joined. Laterally projecting guide ribs centre each DOMINO accurately within the routed mortise, while specially formed glue pockets and longitudinal grooves distribute adhesive throughout the joint and allow excess glue to escape during assembly. The first mortise controls alignment

The first DOMINO mortise is normally routed at the precise width and acts as the reference point for the complete joint. Depending on the application, subsequent mortises can be routed slightly wider to create useful lateral assembly tolerance. The first DOMINO keeps the components accurately aligned while the wider following mortises make larger assemblies much easier to bring together.

Use the narrow mortise setting for the first reference DOMINO so mating components align precisely.
Where appropriate, use wider subsequent mortises to make larger furniture and frame assemblies easier to assemble.
Mark matching reference faces before routing so both workpieces are machined from the same orientation.

How to Use

Mark the required joint positions and reference faces on both workpieces.
Fit the appropriate 10 mm DOMINO cutter to the compatible DF 500, DF 500 R, DFC 500 or DF 700 joining machine.
Set the mortising depth to suit the 50 mm DOMINO and the thickness of the workpieces.
Set the machine fence height and angle according to the joint configuration.
Secure the workpiece where required.
Position the DOMINO machine against the chosen reference surface.
Route the first mortise using the precise narrow setting.
Route the corresponding first mortise in the mating component from the same reference orientation.
Route additional mortises, using a wider mortise setting where appropriate to provide assembly tolerance.
Remove excessive loose dust from the mortises before gluing.
Apply a suitable woodworking adhesive to the mortises and/or DOMINOs according to the adhesive manufacturer's recommendations.
Insert the D 10x50 DOMINOs into one side of the joint.
Bring the mating component into position and press the joint together evenly.
