Festool BKS SYS3 D5-12 SDS 7-Piece SDS-Plus Hammer Drill Bit Set
At a Glance: Seven-piece SDS-Plus hammer drill bit set from 5mm to 12mm with solid-carbide four-edge heads, supplied in an organised Systainer³-compatible drill bit case.
The Festool BKS SYS3 D5-12 SDS is a professional seven-piece hammer drill bit set developed for fast, accurate and dependable drilling in reinforced concrete, natural stone, artificial stone and masonry. Each drill bit features a reinforced head manufactured from high-quality solid carbide for outstanding service life and efficient drilling performance. The robust four-edge cutting geometry helps minimise the risk of the bit catching when it encounters reinforcement, while the sharp 90° centring point enables precise positioning at the start of the hole. Wide dust-removal flutes efficiently transport drilling dust away from the cutting head, supporting faster drilling progress and reduced heat build-up. The complete set is securely organised in a compact drill bit case that fits neatly into Systainer³ models with lid compartments or can be carried and used as a convenient standalone box.
The combination of a solid-carbide head, four cutting edges, an accurate centring point and wide dust outlets delivers a powerful drilling action with excellent control. This makes the set especially effective for professional installation and construction work in masonry, stone and concrete.
Product highlights
- Seven-piece professional set: Includes frequently used SDS-Plus drill bit sizes from 5mm to 12mm.
- Solid-carbide drilling heads: Reinforced heads provide excellent durability and a long service life.
- Four-edge cutting geometry: Helps reduce catching when drilling in reinforced concrete.
- Accurate hole positioning: The sharp 90° centring point helps prevent the bit from wandering when starting a hole.
- Efficient dust removal: Wide flute openings rapidly transport drilling dust away from the cutting head.
- Secure organisation: Every drill bit is firmly retained and easy to identify inside the dedicated case.
- Systainer³ integration: Fits into compatible Systainer³ lid compartments or functions as a separate storage box.
Features
- SDS-Plus tool holder: Enables quick, secure installation in compatible rotary hammer drills.
- High-quality solid-carbide head: Provides excellent resistance to wear during demanding drilling applications.
- Four cutting edges: Improve stability and reduce the likelihood of the bit catching on reinforcement.
- 90° centring point: Supports precise positioning and accurate hole starts.
- Wide dust-removal flutes: Efficiently clear drilling dust for rapid drilling progress.
- Multiple working lengths: Includes shorter 50mm spiral lengths and longer 100mm spiral lengths.
- Compact storage case: Keeps the complete set organised, protected and immediately accessible.
Benefits
- Fast drilling progress: Efficient cutting geometry and wide dust outlets help the bits penetrate demanding materials quickly.
- Improved drilling control: The sharp centring point helps establish the hole accurately before the hammer action advances the bit.
- Reduced bit catching: The four-edge head provides greater stability when encountering reinforcing steel.
- Long working life: Solid-carbide construction withstands intensive professional drilling applications.
- Convenient size selection: The included diameters cover many common fixing, anchoring and installation requirements.
- Efficient tool organisation: The dedicated case keeps the drill bits secure and easy to locate on site or in the workshop.
Application
- Drilling fixing and anchor holes in concrete.
- Drilling in reinforced concrete.
- Drilling holes in natural stone.
- Drilling in artificial and engineered stone.
- Drilling in brickwork, blocks and general masonry.
- Installing wall plugs, anchors and construction fixings.
- Electrical, plumbing and general building installations.
- Professional workshop, construction-site and renovation work.
Extra Information
- Suitable for Festool BHC 18 and KHC 18 rotary hammer drills.
- Also compatible with other rotary hammer drills equipped with an SDS-Plus tool holder.
- The set includes three 6mm drill bits: two with a 50mm spiral length and one with a 100mm spiral length.
- The case fits into compatible Systainer³ models with lid compartments and can also be used independently.
- Use the appropriate drill diameter and embedment depth specified by the fixing or anchor manufacturer.
- Drilling performance and bit life depend on the material, machine setting, operating pressure and effective removal of drilling dust.
Pro Tips
- Use the shorter drill bits where the required hole depth permits, as their compact length provides excellent control and reduced deflection.
- Mark the required drilling depth on the bit or use the rotary hammer&s depth stop to avoid drilling unnecessarily deep holes.
- Allow the rotary hammer and carbide cutting head to perform the work; excessive pressure can slow drilling and increase heat.
- Periodically withdraw the bit from deep holes while it is rotating to help clear accumulated drilling dust.
- Clean the completed hole thoroughly before inserting chemical anchors or other fixings that require a dust-free bore.
How to Use
- Check the drilling location for concealed electrical cables, water pipes, gas lines or other services before starting.
- Select the required drill bit diameter and working length for the fixing and specified drilling depth.
- Disconnect the rotary hammer from its power source or remove the battery pack before fitting the drill bit.
- Clean the SDS-Plus shank and insert it fully into the machine&s SDS-Plus tool holder until it locks securely.
- Set the machine to the appropriate rotary-hammer mode for the material being drilled.
- Position the 90° centring point accurately on the drilling mark and hold the machine square to the surface.
- Start drilling with controlled pressure, allowing the cutting head and hammer action to advance through the material.
- Withdraw the bit periodically during deeper drilling to clear dust from the hole and flutes.
- Release the trigger, wait for the bit to stop completely and allow it to cool before removing or handling it.
